The Game

The Mage System on WoD:Pitt is looking to go back to the traditional, pure idea of mage. With that in mind, the following is how Mage will be handled on this site:

1. Outside of tradition paradigms, Mage is essentially the tragic and horrific story of a person’s desperate attempt to find enlightenment in an ever darkening world.
It is filled with constant strife almost impossible to over come, and can provide for true beauty when challenges are faced, and defeated.

2. It is an extremely personal story. While cabals and chantries are just short of mandatory, and dangerous to do without, each Mage is ultimately out to reach enlightenment. Along with that, they must find ways to help keep the consciousness of the world from becoming blinded. Yes, the Ascension War is lost. But the fundamental reason why it came to pass still exists.

3. Technocrats VS Mages. As previously stated, the actual war is over. While the fight between the two continue quietly and situations will occur, there will not be open, deadly warfare.

4. Paradox. It is strict, it is swift, and it is ever present in the system. It is a balancing affect created by the worlds growing trend to deny the existence of Mages, and the abilities they possess. It is not however to be used as a means to punish Mages for doing magic. While the revised rules will be followed, characters are encouraged to explore their abilities and strengthen their potential.

If you have any questions, want clarification, or if a concern wasn’t spoken to, contact Z.

General System Rules

1. Seekings – Once enough XP has been earned for your character to take a seeking, speak to one of the ST’s and a scene will be set up. If your character fails the seeking, you are free to spend the XP on something else and wait to earn enough to try again.

2. Paradox – The rules laid out in the revised book will be followed. Paradox is a balancing factor, not a punishment. The game would not be represented properly without paradox. It is what drives most mages to help awaken man kind. Their magic is dying because the sleepers believe less and less. Players are welcome to approach the staff if they feel paradox was improperly imposed. But once a decision is ruled as fair and final, the debate will end. Please keep in mind that this game is of the horror genre, and that is intended to be explored on this site.

3. Awarding of XP - Each character earns one XP for each active week of play. Additional XP can be gained through participation in story lines, well laid out mood posts for those who can not play actively, and requests from other people who’ve seen a particularly good bit of RP.

The Setting

The Chantries – There are two chantries in the city. One of them, Alpha Gamma Sigma, is specific to the Order of Hermes; the other, Weaving Steel, is open to all. Who runs them and where they are located is a matter of In Character investigation. If you need help with finding this out, ask me and I'll get you into the know so you can get into the game. If you are submitting a character to be a part of the Tradition-specific chantry, make this known in your submission. Either have a reason for your character being there or we can give you a hand with a reason if needed.

Main Chat Rooms Used

  • Weaving Steel (The Open Chantry)
  • Mal's Place (Non-Chantry Safe Haven)
  • Alpha Gamma Sigma (The Hermetic Chantry)

The Council – At the current time, there is no Official Council of Nine. The Council hasn't been seated in a few years, with the old Council Members lost to the Reckoning or in the time since.
